Plastic Pollution & Turning Trash Into Treasure

Beach Clean-Ups are all well and good, but if we don’t take it to the next level and ensure that we know exactly where our trash goes, and what happens to it (because we’re recycling it ourselves), then we’re not really becoming part of a sustainable solution.

A World FIRST: A boat made entirely from recycled flip-flops and plastic (Lamu, Kenya)

Inspired by projects such as The Flip Flopi who built an entire boat out of recycled flip flops and plastic waste, we’ve decided to take our community development projects to the next level. And we need YOUR help please?

This is where Precious Plastic comes in…

Precious Plastic recycling machines

A sustainable and innovative approach to tackling the problem of plastic pollution, Precious Plastic is an open source, online platform that we can use to build DIY plastic upcycling machines. The machines shred, melt and then excavate plastic to create a new ‘precious’ material. Anything that you can make out of a mould you can now make from plastic waste…From coasters and sunglasses, to bricks and even household furniture!

The platform allows people to connect with others in their local community and across the globe, sharing the projects they’re working on and templates for how others can do the same. Simply put, Precious Plastics is an accessible and open source platform for anyone and everyone looking to upcycle plastic… Including Poppin’ Popenguine!

What can you do to help?

It takes a community to make dreams happen, and by helping to fund our GoFundMe Campaign, you can become part of our community too! By creating a sustainable business that provides local employment, we’ll also be able to:

  • Start an Innovation Hub: To educate, inspire, and motivate people towards coming up with even more solutions to tackle plastic pollution
  • Hold local authorities and municipal bodies accountable: Perhaps the reason why they aren’t more involved in environmental issues is because they think we don’t care
  • Be the change we want to see
  • Engage with other communities across the world, and become active members in the global network of Global Gladiators & Eco Warriors

But we can’t do it alone, and so we’re asking YOU to please help? Take a look at our Beach Clean Up page or the Poppin’ Popenguine YouTube video for an idea of the enormity of the challenge we’re facing, and know that every cent and penny of your donation is going towards a project that’s REALLY in need of all the help it can get.
